Assata Shakur, Former Black Liberation Army Fugitive, Dies in Cuba at 78
Former Black Liberation Army member Assata Shakur died in Havana at 78 after four decades as a U.S. fugitive. Convicted for a 1973 shootout that left a state trooper dead, she escaped a New Jersey prison in 1979 and found asylum in Cuba. The FBI listed her on its Most Wanted Terrorists list in 2013, the first woman to appear. Her death closes a chapter in U.S.–Cuba tensions.

Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC on January 22, 2026. The release includes Yuffie’s Episode INTERmission and a new Streamlined Progression option. Pre-orders are live, with a bonus copy of the 1997 original available through Jan. 31, 2026. Xbox buyers get the classic immediately; Switch 2 owners get it at launch.
