Exhaust Systems
HKS produce some 12 different styles and types of exhaust. Not all styles are available for the same vehicle so please be sure to check if the style you require is produced for your car. Most systems are manufactured using stainless steel tailpipes and boxes with aluminized steel pipework for quietness. The popular current line-up is as follows:
'Super Drager'
Perhaps the most well known of all the HKS types, the Drager is still very much in demand due to it's aggressive looks while still conforming to the strict Japanese 'JASMA' noise level certificate. Most tailpipes sizes are between 120~130mm and use pipework between 85~95mm. All types provide a deeper exhaust note but not one that is noticeable at motorway speeds. A good exhaust for the driver that wants the best. Prices usually between £485.00 (Mazda RX7 twin turbo) and £545.00 (Supra Twin Turbo).
'Drager 2'
Similar to the Super Drager as the name suggests, the Drager 2 is a 'budget' version of their popular Super Drager. Using a smaller rear box, material and manufacturing costs can be reduced. Drager 2's are supplied with a removable baffle that slips inside the tailpipe and is secured by a simple 10mm head bolt. With this baffle in , noise levels are within 'JASMA' limits, but remove it and the noise deepens into a more sporty note. Needless to say most customers remove the baffle immediately! Prices around £465.00.
'120'
A very similar exhaust to the Super Drager, this is offered as an alternative for drivers wanting a less intrusive design. Silencer box construction is of conventional design i.e. flat oval rather than the rounded type of the Drager. All '120' systems also conform to the JASMA noise level. Prices from £385.70 (Mazda RX7 twin turbo).
'Hiper Muffler'
A relatively new offering from HKS that was designed to cater for the driver that prefers a more aggressive-sounding exhaust note. Appearance is very similar to the Super Drager but Hiper's do not conform to the JASMA noise level certificate. Noise levels are acceptable for the U.K. market however. Please note that if an HKS front pipe is fitted in addition (such as for the Impreza range) we recommend the fitment of the Super Drager instead as noise levels will be quite high (often in the region of U.K. produced stainless exhausts). However, due to the cheaper cost of the Hiper over the Drager it is almost as popular in terms of quantity sold. Price £430.00.
'D-1'
The D-1 system is available for most vehicles and offers the driver an understated system which still delivers good power gains. They use tailpipe sizes of between 86~96mm and conform to the 'JASMA' noise levels. Prices from £345.00
'R-2' & 'T-2'
Both these styles are very similar and are mainly offered for normally aspirated vehicles. As with the D-1, power gains are good while still conforming to the JASMA noise level. Prices from £395.00
